Unlocking Circularity Potentials from LMT Batteries: A Material Flow Analysis and Scenario Forecast on Secondary Raw Materials for Europe

Presentation at the 33rd CIRP Conference on Life Cycle Engineering (LCE 2026) on 11 to 13 March in Kamakura, Japan. The content of the presentation is the developement of a material flow analysis on batteries in light means of transports (LMT) of the total amounts and critical raw materials including those put-on market, stock, waste generated, collected as well as recycled batteries and assessing the secondary raw material potential on the European market for each country. Future battery flows up to 2050 are quantified within three scenarios. .
