Konsep Tawakkal Perspektif Imam Al-Ghazali dan Jalaluddin Rumi: Studi Komparatif

The concept of tawakkal in Islamic sufism exhibits rich interpretive variations, particularly from Imam Al-Ghazali and Jalaluddin Rumi, two central sufism figures. This study aims to compare their tawakkal concepts to reveal similarities, differences, and contemporary relevance. Employing library research with qualitative comparative approach, primary texts Ihya Ulumuddin (Al-Ghazali) and Mathnawi (Rumi) serve as population, sampling key verses on tawakkal, effort, and spiritual stations. Analytical instruments include textual hermeneutics and qualitative content comparison. Findings reveal Al-Ghazali emphasizes rational tawakkal based on tawhid and knowledge for inner tranquility, while Rumi integrates dynamic love dimension through poetic metaphors toward total ego surrender. Both perspectives complement each other. It concludes that this tawakkal synthesis holds relevance for modern psychospirituality, combining rationality and sufistic love.
