Some of the primary fields of concern of this aspect of poverty reduction as far as SDGs are concerned should include gender, caste and poverty. Gendered poverty brings into focus the dissimilar prevalence of poverty by both genders. To address this complex process, it is necessary to have certain insight. This, combined with caste in most cases, such as in India, sets back women and, therefore, worsened poverty conditions among the female category. In this respect, sex-selective abortion and female infanticide are the measures of high socio-economic pressure and cultural norms according to which male offspring are the desirable ones as compared to female offspring. The practices are not merely generating unrealistic gender ratios but also demonstrate certain entrenched social problems which cripple the rights of women and the need to be empowered. Only by acknowledging and addressing needs of the most marginalized who would comprise women on the first place would sustainable development and social justice become more easily reached with more effective means of alleviating poverty.
