Design of a mobile GIS-based management information system for the census of invasive alien species in Guizhou Province, China

This paper addresses the challenges of invasive alien species census workflows in Guizhou Province, which are often inefficient, outdated, and difficult to share across agencies. It proposes a mobile GIS-based management information system to enhance the province-wide census process. The system adopts a Web Service-based client/server architecture and uses a MySQL database to enable unified data storage and synchronized access to multi-source records. On mobile terminals, the platform allows electronic map synchronization, in-field species reporting with location and multimedia evidence, and structured data submission. On the server side, it provides data management and analysis functions, including querying, statistical summaries, and report generation. A risk assessment module is incorporated to prioritize species control efforts. By standardizing data capture and facilitating inter-departmental sharing, the system improves the completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of census data, supporting biosecurity decision-making. This platform enhances ecological management, standardizes census procedures, and contributes to strengthened biosecurity in Guizhou Province and beyond.
