<b>KITCHEN CABINET DESIGN USING </b> <b>AN ANTHROPOMETRIC APPROACH</b>

The purpose of this study is to design a kitchen cabinet that has a gas stove and use an anthropometric approach in determining its design. Thus, the product development cycle aims to create a design that is ergonomic, functional and fits into the physical characteristics of most users. Five key physical dimensions of the body were assessed: stature, shoulder height, forward reach (fingertip to thumb), lateral reach (tip of fingers on fully extended arms on either side) and grip height when standing. Design decisions were made using the data for the 5th, 50th and 95th percentiles. 3D AutoCAD software was used to model the product for both visualization and functional proportions. The overall findings show the significance of using Indonesian anthropometric data so that user comfort and efficiency in using a kitchen cabinet can be increased, and do not cause fatigue and injury due to the poor ergonomics.
