<b>To Investigate the Influence of On-The Job Training on Performance of Local Government Employees: A case of Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District Uganda.</b>

Background: Training is an important part of ensuring that local government employees have the skills and deliver high-quality services to residents; the study adopted a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted as a case of Katabi Town Council. The study objective was to investigate the influence of on-the job training on the performance of local government employees in Katabi town council, Uganda. Methods: The study adopted a descriptive cross-sectional research design to help explain the current situation on training and employee performance, and analyzed the inherent problem when dealing with quantitative data. Area of Study: The study was conducted at Katabi Town Council, located 30 kilometers southwest of Kampala along Entebbe international airport high way. The data were collected from 18th to 27th January 2025. Results: The findings indicated that there are on-the-job training programs in the workplace of respondents. There were also uncertainties where some respondents were not sure of the existence of on-the-job training, and some disagreed totally on these trainings being effective when it comes to influencing the way work is done, because some of the trainings do not have clear objectives. Conclusion: The study concluded that the association between on-the-job training and employee performance revealed that Katabi Town Council was still facing challenges with the development of the right training content and training methods. Recommendation: The study recommends that on-the-job training be emphasized for the Town Council to meet set training objectives and governmental goals.
