Import substitution model in a small open economy of Tajikistan

This article examines an acceptable import substitution model in a small open economy through an analysis of economic development models in various countries. It is noted that, in the context of the comprehensive development of economic relations, the expansion of globalization processes, and various internal and external threats to economic security, ensuring and maintaining socioeconomic development at a sufficient level is unthinkable without supporting the development of domestic production. This study presents a systemic and comprehensive verbal model of import substitution. This model of import substitution, in the context of Tajikistan's small open economy, posits that a positive effect is only possible with the simultaneous implementation of each of the identified measures. Only a comprehensive approach can ensure the most effective import‑substituting economic growth. This approach is explained by the fact that the identified measures alone are incapable of producing positive results.
