Citizen Science Scan 2025: Landscape and evolution of citizen science in Belgium

The Citizen Science Scan provides insight into the state, nature and evolution of the citizen‑science landscape in Belgium. To this end, we inventory and analyse active citizen‑science initiatives for a specific reference year. We conduct this scan periodically in order to map developments across multiple reference years. Following the first edition in 2023, this second Citizen Science Scan offers a new snapshot for the reference year 2025. Where relevant, we compare both editions to make trends and shifts within the Belgian citizen‑science landscape visible. This report presents the methodology, results and recommendations of this inventory.
