Artificial Intelligence Algorithm, Default Settings and Effective Translation

The internet is a superhighway for accessing vast amounts of information as uploaded therein. Artificial intelligence, on the other hand, has made it easier for this information to be accessed, processed, and deployed through the use of algorithms. An algorithm refers to a precise step-by-step plan for a computational procedure that begins with an input value and yields an output value in a finite number of steps. Information available on the internet can be accessed through artificial intelligence via applications or search engines, and may often appear as default settings simply because such information is readily available. Artificial intelligence has thus become the new normal in technology, shaping nearly every aspect of human life. This paper explores major computational tools such as Python and Voyant for textual analysis. It further appraises some of the features of these tools through graphical illustrations. Additionally, the paper identifies key problems associated with default settings in online information and examines how these may either facilitate or hinder the translation process from Source Texts (ST) to Target Texts (TT). The findings of the study emphasize the need for translators to adopt newer and faster technologies while also remaining aware of their limitations in the practice of translation.
