This dataset provides characterization factors (and associated uncertainty values) for the surface albedo-induced climate impacts of land use and land use changes as described in the article "Global characterization of surface albedo-induced climate impacts of land use in life cycle assessment". When using the dataset, please cite the article and provide reference to this zenodo repository. The characterization factors are provided at a 0.5 degree resolution as .csv files, with each file representing a unique land transition between a reference state and a land occupation type. Each file includes: location information: the latitude and longitude of the center of the grid cell the average monthly and yearly difference in the surface albedo between the reference land cover and the land occupation (denoted by the month followed by 'alb-delta') the average monthly and yearly radiative forcing caused by the change in the surface albedo between the reference land cover and the land occupation (denoted by the month followed by 'RF') in units of W/m2 (normalized to 1 m2 of occupied area) Global warming potentials for 100- and 500- year time horizons, in units of kg CO2e per unit land occupation (m2a) (denoted as GWP100 and GWP500, respectively) The reference state and the land occupation type are indicated in the file name “CF_albedo_XXX-ZZZ_2011-2020.csv” where XXX refers to the land occupation type (see Table 1) and ZZZ refers to the reference state (see Table 2). The data has also been aggregated to larger spatial scales (indicated by "aggregated" included in the file name), where the location information as latitude and longitude values are replaces by location descriptions. Uncertainty measure are provided in separate files named as "CF_uncertainty_XXX-ZZZ.csv" where again XXX refers to the land occupation type (Table 1) and ZZZ refers to the reference state (Table 2).
