Special Section on Multimedia Information Security and Enrichment -Further linkages between cyber and physical-With the development of 6G mobile communication systems, ultra-realistic applications, including the metaverse and remote surgery, are expected to become feasible.The seamless utilization of these technologies requires further refinement of VR, AR, and related technologies.Moreover, research and development on cyber-physical systems (CPS), such as autonomous driving, are advancing, and as the importance of these societal infrastructure technologies grows, content creation and processing technologies are becoming increasingly diverse and complex.Therefore, this special section aims to present a comprehensive range of studies on multimedia information security and enrichment, which strengthen the security of digital multimedia and enhance the integration between the cyber and physical domains.The editorial committee for this special section is based on the Enriched Multimedia (EMM) Technical Group of IEICE, founded in 2011, which promotes research related to the topics described above.
