ROLE OF YOGA IN ENHANCING ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: A PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

In recent years, greater attention has been given to factors affecting performance, particularly stress. Academic stress—arising from high expectations, competition, examinations, and limited coping skills—can negatively impact concentration, memory, and emotional balance, ultimately lowering academic achievement. Yoga, an ancient mind–body practice rooted in Indian philosophy, has gained recognition for its role in improving psychological well-being. It combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation to help balance the body and mind. Regular practice has been associated with reduced stress levels, improved focus, and better emotional control. It also supports mindfulness and self-discipline, enabling students to handle academic challenges more effectively. This analysis examines the relationship between yoga and academic performance, particularly through stress management. It highlights how yoga can improve attention, memory, and overall cognitive functioning while also promoting emotional stability and motivation. Incorporating yoga into daily academic routines can help reduce stress and create a more balanced mental state, leading to better learning outcomes. Therefore, introducing structured yoga programs in schools and colleges may support both academic performance and students’ well-being.
