The paper presents the results of experimental studies of torque of DC electric motors for fishing catamaran. The current state of the small-size fishing fleet leaves much to be desired. Construction of new fishing fleet under investment quotas does not affect the small-size fleet. The era of using environmentally friendly technologies is coming, for example, vessels with electric traction. Pairing the thrust characteristics of a fishing vessel with the aggregate resistance of industrial fishing gear is the main problem in the design of fishing gear. Correct relation of thrust, as the main parameter, with aggregate resistance provides effective and safe fishing. Also, all fishing devices, from trawl winches to booms, can be referred to the issues of traction characteristics. But this does not limit the use of electric motors in the fleet. One of the important characteristics of an electric motor is the torque, which can be static and dynamic. Static torque is measured when the shaft is not rotating but under load. Dynamic torque is measured when the electric motor shaft is rotating. The mechanical and electrodynamic characteristics of DC electric motors are investigated in experiments using a specially designed torque measurement set-up. The measuring complex includes a strain gauge, a tachometer and two laboratory power supplies, which set the voltage value of interest for the study. Technical data on these devices are given in the tables of this article. Dependence graphs are plotted on the obtained experimental data. In the future it is necessary to carry out approximations with the identification of the smallest value of the error, which will determine the type of dependence. This will give a clear understanding of the relationship between the studied mechanical and electrodynamic characteristics, which can be used in the design of small-size fleet, in particular fishing catamaran.
