Not So Glamorous: The Downsides of Fame

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be famous? The money, adoration, and opportunities all sound exciting; however, they come with drawbacks that might poison your idea of fame. In my poster, I investigate why people want to be famous and the psychology behind it, as well as the downsides of fame, such as privacy invasion, mental health struggles, and mistreatment of celebrities. I did this by consulting research articles, celebrities’ public interviews, and pieces detailing their stories. This investigation led me down a rabbit hole of heartbreaking stories and difficult struggles, revealing a hidden side of Hollywood. After learning how the abuse of celebrities has persisted over time despite their calls for help, will you still think of fame as glamorous?
