Virtual Reality (VR) Learning Environments

Virtual Reality (VR) learning environments are becoming increasingly important in modern education by offering immersive and interactive experiences. Accordingly, accessibility and inclusivity are essential to ensure equal access to VR-based education. Therefore, educators and instructional designers should prioritize these principles to create engaging experiences for diverse learners. This chapter examines the principles of accessibility and inclusivity in VR, equipping educators and instructional designers with practical strategies and insights to promote greater inclusivity. It opens with VR's potential in reshaping education and emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and accessibility, especially for diverse backgrounds. Issues such as economic inequalities, sociocultural differences, gender inequality, disparities in technological competence across age groups, and inclusion of individuals with disabilities are explored, followed by suggested solutions. The conclusion highlights collaboration to promote equal opportunities through inclusive VR.
